Cape Fear Group Homes is dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in finding employment to increase community involvement and integration. Our primary concern is the collective well-being of the individuals we serve. Cape Fear Group Homes launched Cape Fear Vocational Service in February 2012. It is a community resource program with a focus on assisting individuals with disabilities in procuring and retaining competitive employment. Our vocational program currently serves Alamance, Brunswick, Caswell, Duplin, Durham, Guilford, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, and Rockingham counties. Over two years, we have helped approximately 350 individuals reach their employment goals. Our aim is to continually provide employment support through partnerships and advocacy to local businesses. We believe employment is a gateway to financial stability and improved quality of life for the individuals we serve.
Who: We serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, physical disabilities, and substance abuse.
When: Monday- Friday 9-5, except on holidays. Services are provided daily as well as on an as-needed basis by clients.
What: We provide several services through our program: community based assessments, supplemental evaluations, work adjustment, supportive employment, intensive training, and long- term support. We work with participants to develop the needed skills for success in the workplace. Our staff assists clients in developing an employment plan which includes obtaining employment, providing training to maintain the job, and long-term support to sustain continued vocational success.
How: Our intake process is based primarily on referrals from the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Individuals seeking services must first apply through the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Once approved, the individual may be referred for vocational support.
